Chiropractic Care Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well

Your West Palm Beach chiropractor knows your spine! Chiropractic Care understands anatomy. Back in chiropractic school, your chiropractor studied a lot about anatomy of the spine and puts that knowledge to use every day. Knowing the anatomy of the spine is continually at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck pain, back pain patient walks through the door! It’s so exciting! (Aren’t you glad someone finds it exciting?)

LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL

When we were in school, we’re all guilty of learning only to pass an exam. Going to professional school, such learning is more important than ever since it will impact everyday work. (How much do you remember from your high school or college days?) An international survey of chiropractors and anatomists described that chiropractors thought that a higher level of anatomy teaching during chiropractic school was advantageous for clinical practice, allowing better understanding, application, and analysis of anatomical material to support a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian report of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic students. The chiropractic practitioners rated their knowledge of anatomy and proved it in a test showing their knowledge. This was compared to the same in their chiropractic student counterparts. The chiropractors showed that they kept their knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the thought that chiropractic practitioners may not keep it after a period of time. Knowledge of anatomy is utilized daily in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand their anatomy. (2) Your West Palm Beach chiropractor does! We’ll be happy to talk about it!

SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL PRACTICE

Applying spinal manipulation daily applies knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day. The most common reasons people reported seeking chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and extremity issues (10.0%). The typical treatment they experienced were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions receive a lot of attention from chiropractic patients and their chiropractors, of course! But fortunate side effects of chiropractic care materialize in the medical literature as well like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded, randomized trial, researchers described the immediate effects of upper thoracic spine manual therapy on cardiovascular autonomic control of patients with musculoskeletal pain (ie, back pain, spine pain, neck pain, etc.). The researchers explained that musculoskeletal pain intensified the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come feel these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on knowledge of the spine’s anatomy.
